WHERE TO STAY IN NUSA PENIDA BALI? Nusa Penida Island has hundreds of accommodations to choose from, so I have narrowed it down to the best places to stay suitable for budget backpackers, luxury travelers, and everyone in between. See the list of accommodations below that I personally recommend. LUXURY MAUA NUSA PENIDA MAUA is one of the only luxury properties in Nusa Penida which is located on the cliffs near Gamat Bay and boasts stunning ocean views. Features include a swimming pool, a restaurant and bar, an outdoor terrace, free Wi-Fi, and breakfast is included for all guests. For More Options, See My Complete Guide On Where To Stay In Nusa Penida HOW TO GET AROUND NUSA PENIDA? Nusa Penida is quite a large island and it can take up to one hour to get from one side of the island to the other. You have two options for getting around, one is by scooter and the second option is to book private car hire with a driver. BY SCOOTER There are a number of scooter rental shops dotted along the beachfront at Toya Pakeh harbor that will be able to sort you out with some wheels when you arrive on the island. Alternatively, most accommodations will help you to organize a scooter rental for the time you plan to spend here on the island. You can expect to pay around 70,000 IDR per day for a scooter rental with a full tank of gas. The roads are not very well maintained so please be aware of this and take it slow on the loose gravel roads. Be sure to get a helmet as an extra precaution. I also highly recommend purchasing travel insurance, especially when riding on the roads here. Safety first! PRIVATE CAR HIRE & DRIVER If you’re not confident riding a scooter and exploring the island on your own, your best bet is to book private car hire with an experienced guide and driver. Spend a day discovering all the top sights on the island with a professional driver. You can tailor the trip to your interests, and travel around in a private air-conditioned vehicle. Get picked up at the port or your hotel then start exploring right away. At the end of the experience, you’ll be dropped back at the port or your hotel. BOOK NOW PRIVATE CAR HIRE & DRIVER WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT NUSA PENIDA? The best time to visit Nusa Penida is from May to August, during the peak season. While there will be more people visiting, it’s not as hot as the rainy season and you won’t have as much rain. Alternatively, April is a great time to visit as it’s the end of the rainy season and you’ll have plenty of opportunities for photos! IS NUSA PENIDA WORTH IT? Definitely, Nusa Penida is one of the best places to visit in Indonesia and has some of the best beaches and viewpoints you’ve ever seen in your life. Also, there are dozens of day trips from mainland Bali, which is super convenient if you have limited time. HOW LONG TO STAY IN NUSA PENIDA? While you can take a day trip to Nusa Penida, I recommend staying at least 2 days to see the most popular attractions. And if time allows, why not visit Nusa Penida for 3 or 4 days? This will give you enough time to explore the island with a scooter, eat delicious food, go on a snorkeling trip, or perhaps do a diving course. NUSA PENIDA TOUR If you happen to be in Bali and planning to visit Nusa Penida Island from here, there is one tour that I can highly recommend that covers all the highlights on a full-day trip from Bali. Here is your complete list of 40 EPIC Things To Do In Nusa Penida Bali. KELINGKING BEACH Kelingking Beach also referred to as T-Rex Beach, or Kelingking Secret Point Beach is the most popular tourist attraction on Nusa Penida Island, and for a good reason… I mean just look at this view! The reason why Kelingking Beach is such a popular location is that the cliffs form the shape of a T-Rex dinosaur. The head of the T-Rex can be seen on the left of the bay and the body and tail wrap around to the right. Access to this beach is possible but please explore at your own risk. The Kelingking Beach hike is not for the faint-hearted as it’s a very precarious trail down a narrow trail and onto the shoreline. The hike from top to bottom takes around 30 minutes each way. For this reason, make sure to wear comfortable shoes to get there. Kelingking Beach can be visited at any time of the day, though early morning and mid-afternoons are the optimum times to experience this stunning location. If you want to experience Keling King Beach without the crowds, you should aim to arrive here at sunrise, or just after, and you will most likely have the place all to yourself. Full Blog Post → Kelingking Beach KELINGKING BEACH VIEWPOINT If you don’t want to brave the hike down to Kelingking Beach, there are multiple viewpoints around the edge of the cliffs which offer spectacular views up and down the coastline of Nusa Penida. You can also grab something to eat and drink from one of the many local restaurants at the top of the cliffs. They are quite affordable and offer amazing views. The BEST Affordable Camera For Travel If you’re on the hunt for a professional camera for traveling, check out the Canon G7 X Mark II. This tiny camera fits in your pocket, captures high-quality photos and videos, and has Wi-Fi so you can instantly transfer to your phone! BANAH CLIFF VIEWPOINT Banah Cliff is yet another epic viewpoint on Nusa Penida Island. This particular location is not as popular as Kelingking Beach though it’s equally as impressive, in my opinion, and one of the best things to do in Nusa Penida. There are not just not one but two incredible viewpoints at Banah Cliff. Be very careful when taking photos at these viewpoints as there are no safety barriers to protect you from falling. The panoramic viewpoint at Banah Cliff faces west and offers extreme views of surrounding cliffs, perched high above the ocean. On a clear day, you can actually see the tail of the T-Rex at Kelingking Beach. The other lookout point faces east and offers an awesome view of an arched rock island just off the coastline. The best time to visit Banah Cliff is either early morning or late afternoon for sunset. Avoid visiting in the middle of the day when it’s too hot under the midday sun. Full Blog Post → Banah Cliff Nusa Penida MANTA POINT NUSA PENIDA Snorkeling at Manta Point is one of the best things to do on Nusa Penida Bali. These underwater giants are incredibly humble and to be able to swim with them is an experience I am sure you will never forget. There are a couple of options to book a snorkeling trip to Manta Point Nusa Penida and they are OPTION 1 From Nusa Penida Island, boat tours operate out of Toya Pakeh Bay to Manta Point on a daily basis. You can head down to one of the many tourist offices in Toya Pakeh to organize your snorkeling trip. The cost of a Manta Point snorkeling tour is around 250,000 IDR. OPTION 2 If you happen to be in Bali and want to go snorkeling with manta rays, there is one tour that I can highly recommend which is a full-day trip from Bali. The Manta Bay Snorkeling Tour is the most top-rated Nusa Penida day trip with great reviews and thousands of bookings. This tour includes hassle-free pick-up and drop-off from your hotel, return boat transfers from Bali, and an English-speaking guide and you will visit such spots as Manta Point, Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay, Toyapakeh Wall, and more! Book Now → Manta Bay Snorkeling Tour These majestic creatures are absolutely incredible. They glide effortlessly through the ocean and are really friendly to swim with. The manta rays can be quite intimidating to begin with due to their body size of up to 5 meters, though you will soon realize they are harmless, humble giants. The new GoPro HERO 11 boasts video, 27MP photo, HyperSmooth stabilization, and waterproof up to 10m! ANGEL’S BILLABONG Angel’s Billabong features a natural infinity pool overlooking the ocean and it just so happens to be one of the island’s most popular attractions. There are a number of viewpoints of Angel’s Billabong and my personal favorite is down in the infinity pool itself. The water is clear as crystal and the temperature is nice and cool, perfect for a refreshing dip. The rocks are quite sharp and rugged getting down into the infinity pool, but once you step in, the rocks under the water’s surface are surprisingly smooth and easy to walk on. Full Blog Post → Angel’s Billabong BROKEN BEACH Broken Beach is one of many awesome locations on Nusa Penida Island. Featuring a natural bridge that stretches over turquoise waters, this is one attraction you don’t want to miss during your visit. Although you can’t go swimming at Broken Beach, the location is such an unreal setting in itself. You can marvel at the ocean as it flows in and out of a natural bowl surrounded by towering cliffs Take the panoramic walk all the way around the edge of Broken Beach and discover several different viewpoints, each offering incredible views of this unique sinkhole in the cliff. Once you’ve completed the panoramic walk, perch up at one of the cliff-side cafes for a plate of nasi goreng, a cup of coffee, or a refreshing coconut. It’s by far the best seat in the house that overlooks the beautiful scenes at this magnificent attraction. The best time to visit to beat the crowds is early morning for sunrise which is between 630 am and 700 am. Alternatively, you can visit Broken Beach at sunset and enjoy the golden hour as the sun sets over the horizon. Full Blog Post → Broken Beach MANTA VIEWPOINT Manta Viewpoint offers some of the most sensational views you’ve ever seen in your life. It’s located between Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach so you can’t miss it. Be ready to see crystal-clear waters with a turquoise hue and manta rays cruising around you below. Simply put, Manta Viewpoint is a haven for those looking for incredible views without a strenuous hike involved. RELATED ARTICLE → NUSA ISLANDS GUIDE ATUH BEACH Atuh Beach is one of Nusa Penida’s most iconic locations, featuring a natural rock arch that stretches over crystal clear turquoise waters and a white sand beach suitable for all travelers. Pantai Atuh can be accessed from either the left-hand side or the right-hand side of the cliffs via the concrete steps that are cut into the side of the mountain. It takes approximately 5 – 10 minutes to hike down to the shoreline. Atuh Beach is hands-down one of the most beautiful beaches on the island, featuring a large cove with crystalline waters, and golden sands, and fringed by a coconut palm forest. It’s the perfect spot to go for a swim to cool off and beach bum under one of many straw umbrellas that line the shoreline. There is also a couple of small beach cafes that line the shoreline offering fresh Indonesian cuisine, cold beers, and fresh coconuts. You could easily spend a couple of hours down here on the beach and not get bored! Full Blog Post → Atuh Beach Nusa Penida ATUH BEACH VIEWPOINT Atuh Beach is definitely one of the best beaches on the island, but what most people don’t know is that the Atuh Beach Viewpoint is a must-see as well. If you have time up your sleeve, I recommend waking up early at least once and making your way here in the early hours of the day as you can’t beat the sunrise views from here. THOUSAND ISLAND VIEWPOINT Thousand Island viewpoint overlooks a group of islands and pristine beaches on the east coast of the island. Safe to say that this is one spot you don’t want to miss! Thousand Island Pulau Seribu is located at the same location as the famous Rumah Pohon Treehouse. From the jump-off point, the hike down the ridge via the concrete stairs takes no more than five minutes to reach this insane viewpoint. I don’t know why they named it Thousand Islands when you can only see five or six islands off in the distance. Regardless of the misleading name, this is one of the most beautiful landscapes like no other. RUMAH POHON TREE HOUSE Rumah Pohon Tree House has become a very popular attraction thanks to everyone’s favorite app Instagram. Evidently, it’s now one of the best places to see on the east coast of Nusa Penida Island. This amazing treehouse overlooks one of the gorgeous bays known as Thousand Island which I mentioned above. When I first saw the Nusa Penida Treehouse on Instagram I just had to go and see it for myself, as have thousands of other travelers before me. This entire coastline has so much to offer and exploring it firsthand was even better than seeing it in the pictures. If you want to get that perfect Instagram photo of the Rumah Pohon Treehouse you can stand on the hill on the right-hand side of the track to capture the best angle. Depending on what time of day you visit, there may or may not be a line of people waiting to get a photo. My friends and I visited Rumah Pohon Tree House in the middle of the day when it was scorching hot and probably the reason why we didn’t see many other people around. The most popular time to visit is around sunrise and sunset, so you can expect more people around these times. Full Blog Post → Rumah Pohon Tree House The Most Functional Day Pack EVER! The Nomatic 20L Travel Pack is perfect for everyday use and for those shorter 1-3 day adventures. With 20+ innovative features and a minimalist design, this functional day pack gives you confidence for life on the move! PEGUYANGAN WATERFALL Peguyangan Waterfall is yet another one of the most popular attractions on the island and home to the Instafamous Blue Stairs. This location is off the beaten path and it takes a little longer to get to, though it’s an experience not to be missed when exploring the best things to do in Nusa Penida. A sarong is required to be worn when visiting as there is a sacred temple at the bottom of the cliffs. If you don’t have a sarong to wear, these can be rented from the parking attendant for 10,000 IDR. There are 750 blue stairs that are impressively constructed into the side of the cliff providing access to the waterfall. It’s a good workout hiking down and then back up again that’s for sure! After a 20-minute hike down the blue stairs, you’ll arrive at the sacred water temple that features four waterspouts. When I visited, there were some locals showering under the spouts in their underwear with no worry in the world. I waited my turn to enjoy an invigorating shower under each of the waterspouts and then continued along the cliff to the Peguyangan Waterfall. The waterfall itself is not your common 50-meter meter waterfall, like those you will find in Bali, but rather a waterspout between a crack in a rock where water flows out into tiered pools and over the cliff edge into the ocean. Full Blog Post → Peguyangan Waterfall PURA GOA GIRI PUTRI CAVE Pura Goa Giri Putri Temple and Cave is one of Nusa Penida’s most underrated tourist spots and definitely not to be missed on your adventures around the island. You can visit Pura Goa Giri Putri as early as 7 am and until 5 pm and a sarong is required to be worn as this is a holy site. I believe that there are mass prayer ceremonies on the weekends where some 100+ locals fill the cave. If you are able to, try not to miss one of these mass ceremonies as this would truly be an unforgettable experience. Take the winding staircase midway up the mountain and you’ll be greeted by a man that will bless you with some holy water on the forehead before entering the cave. The entrance fee is by donation, so something around 20,000 IDR will be acceptable. Pura Goa Giri Putri cave is an impressive 300 meters long and 15 meters tall. The cave is filled with Indonesian ornaments and a large altar resides in the center of the cave. Follow the pathway to the end of Goa Giri Putri cave to a viewpoint of a small village on the lush green mountainside. You can exit the cave here or head back the same way you came and back to the entrance. Full Blog Post → Pura Goa Giri Putri Cave DIAMOND BEACH Diamond Beach Nusa Penida is one of the most amazing beaches I have ever been to and it’s not to be missed during your visit to the island. Featuring a glistening white sand beach surrounded by verdant cliffs and turquoise water, Diamond Beach is a hard-to-beat destination. The chalky-white stairway at Diamond Beach Nusa Penida happens to be one of the most Instagrammed locations on the island, and it’s easy to see why. It only takes around ten minutes to get down to the shoreline, though the stairs are quite narrow, so please be careful and take your time on your descent. There are two beach areas at Diamond Beach. One has vivid green mossy rocks and tidal rock pools, but unfortunately, quite of bit of trash was washed up on the sand here. The other area of Diamond Beach boasts glistening white sand, coconut palm trees, small caves, and calm waters, which is the perfect spot to go swimming. There are a few small caves to explore at the foot of the cliffs, and I highly recommend taking a refreshing dip in the turquoise waters after the sweaty hike down the stairs. A small warung resides down on the beach, where you can purchase cold refreshments and local dishes such as mie goreng and nasi goreng for as little as $3. Full Blog Post → Diamond Beach DIAMOND BEACH VIEWPOINT If you’ve already planned to go to Diamond Beach, then you can’t miss the viewpoint near the top of the stairs. The expansive view of the beach, rock formations, and ocean is simply stunning. What I really liked about this viewpoint is that it isn’t as hard to get to as others, which is great for the legs when you’re exhausted. TEMBELING BEACH & FOREST Tembeling Beach and Forest is one of my favorite spots to visit on Nusa Penida Island. You could easily spend a couple of hours exploring this location by featuring a number of cool things to see, including pristine white sand beaches, tropical rainforests, natural lagoons, hidden caves, and cliff-jumping spots. The one-way track down to Tembeling Beach from the main road is very steep and it’s recommended for experienced riders only. If you are not confident to ride down the sketchy road, there is typically a group of local Indonesians sitting in a small hut at the turnoff for Tembeling Forest that will offer you a ride down on the back of their motorbike for 50,000 IDR. See below for 5 awesome things that you can see and do at Tembeling Beach Swim in the blue lagoon Cliff jumping at blue lagoon Secret Beach and Caves Jacuzzi pool Tembeling Beach Full Blog Post → Tembeling Beach & Lagoons CRYSTAL BAY Crystal Bay is a palm tree haven and an awesome snorkeling location on the west side of Nusa Penida. There are a number of beach shack cafes, traditional temples, a coconut palm tree forest, and colorful umbrellas along the shoreline at Crystal Bay, all of which overlook a gorgeous cove and a nearby rocky island. Keen to chill and relax? Why not grab a fresh coconut and spend the afternoon under the shade of a palm tree? If you’re up for an adventure, grab a mask and snorkel and swim out to the colorful reef just offshore and see what you can find under the surface. Crystal Bay is also a very popular location for sunset amount tourists and locals. Grab some beers and head down to the beach with your mates and see out the last hours of the day. The best way to explore Bukit Teletubbies Teletubbies Hill is on foot. Take a short hike to get a different perspective of this incredible landscape from nearby peaks. When you arrive, you’ll see rolling fields of green and rounded peaks that give Bukit Teletubbies Hill its name. On a clear day, you can see the neighboring island of Lombok and the almighty Mount Rinjani, the second-largest volcano in Indonesia. In the valleys between Teletubbies Hill are terraced fields of food crops and random clusters of coconut palm trees. I recommend flying a drone camera here to capture Bukit Teletubbies from above. NOME BEACH CLUB Nomé Beach is a beautiful new venue with excellent service, great cocktails, and stunning views – the perfect combination when visiting Nusa Penida Bali, right? The location is perfect, situated right on the beach with good music and a great atmosphere. What’s more, you can take a dip in the ocean or jump into the pool here, making it an ideal spot to hang out, sunbathe, enjoy the sunset, and relax. PENIDA COLADA BEACH BAR Penida Colada is a new beach bar situated steps away from Nomé Beach Club that offers stunning views of the ocean, along with delicious food. The atmosphere at Penida Colada is warm and inviting, perfect for enjoying a drink or snack while taking in the views. On top of that, they have “Happy Hour” from 5 to 7 pm which gets you a buy one get one free offer! MALIBU BEACH NUSA PENIDA Malibu Beach also known as Pantai Semaya is an off-the-beaten-path attraction that I came across while searching Google maps for a secluded beach on Penida Island. Located on the eastern end of the island, Malibu Beach is a tropical paradise featuring a small cove with calm waters to swim in and a patch of white sand to sunbathe. There is a new beach club that was 90% built when I visited October 2022 which I assume will bring more tourists to this location. If you’re wanting to experience something different from the main Instagram spots on the island, Malibu Beach Nusa Penida is a must. BUBU BEACH BAR & GRILL Bubu Beach Bar and Grill is waiting for you on the north coast of Nusa Penida, offering a million-dollar view of the ocean. Its authentic interior gives off a charming vibe, and the seafood menu is definitely what you need after a day exploring the island or working on your tan. Other restaurants and cafes in Nusa Penida are also great, but Bubu Beach takes things to the next level with low prices and doesn’t sacrifice quality. And you can’t really beat the cocktails for only $4! DEVIL’S BILLABONG Another incredible spot to take pictures in Nusa Penida is Devil’s Billabong. The billabong is situated close to Angel’s Billabong, so you can see both on the same trip which is convenient. It’s fascinating to see the force of the water which falls through cracks in the rock after being washed out, creating an unstoppable stream. However, be careful when traveling here as the road can be quite rough. Plus, swimming is not allowed, so it’s all about taking awesome photos! PURA PUNCAK MUNDI Nestled at the highest point on the island, Pura Puncak Mundi is a peaceful Hindu temple located atop Mundi Hill. With its glorious views of the island and neighboring islands, it’s no wonder Pura Puncak Mundi is one of the most popular attractions in Nusa Penida. Inside, you can explore the beautiful ornate shrines, learn more from the friendly locals about their culture, and connect with nature by making offerings of fruits or flowers. It’s certainly a special place – be sure to visit on your lap around the island! SUWEHAN BEACH – BEST THINGS TO DO IN NUSA PENIDA Suwehan Beach is the ultimate reward for those who take on the challenge of the rugged hike to get there. The beach itself boasts crystal clear turquoise waters, along with stunning rock formations which have been created naturally and uniquely over time. It’s a magical place that few are lucky enough to experience which means you should definitely not miss out on this hidden gem! PASIH ANDUS SMOKY BEACH Smoky Beach is like a hidden oasis, with its crystal clear waters and dramatic rock formations. Taking the time to get there can be tough, but it’s well worth the effort as you get to enjoy the spectacular views of both the sunset and the Garuda statue. Please note that you can’t go swimming here, although the waves here are particularly unique as they crash against the cliffed shoreline, much like that of Devil’s Tears on Nusa Lembongan. PANDAN BEACH Nestled away in a remote corner of the island, Pandan Beach is a synonym of tranquility and beauty. The 15-minute hike from Crystal Bay is worth the effort to discover absolute paradise with clear turquoise waters and powdery white sand. To get there, you’ll need to walk to the southern end of Crystal Bay before walking up some steps for 10 minutes over a small mountain. Once at the beach, you can enjoy complete seclusion amongst pure nature, take in the stunning sights, and sit back and relax with a cold drink or two from a small stall near the shore. It’s certainly a place to be discovered for those who prefer quiet beaches! GAMAT BAY Gamat Bay is an idyllic spot known for its snorkeling and diving tours. The beach is made of soft sand and pebbles, with coconut palms providing the perfect backdrop. To get to the bay, I recommend contacting a local snorkeling guide who will take you via boat to this and other great locations. Once there, you can enjoy tranquil waters with gentle waves that make swimming a breeze – no need to struggle against the current! Despite being the perfect place for diving tours, you’ll be amazed at how empty the bay is, so make sure to visit if you don’t like crowds. TAKE A DIVING COURSE Willing to take your next vacation to a new level? Then why not join a diving course in Nusa Penida? The island offers amazing landscapes and stunning beaches and is also home to some awesome diving opportunities. Exploring the depths of the coral reefs and seeing the shipwrecks in Nusa Lembongan can be an unforgettable experience. And it doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or an experienced diver, as there’s going to be a Nusa Penida tour available for you! BOOK NOW → NUSA PENIDA DIVING COURSE LUMANGAN BEACH In case you haven’t heard of Lumangan Beach Nusa Penida, then you should urgently go and visit it. While it’s not as stunning as other beaches in Bali, it’s a secluded corner on the island that is perfect for meditation or just an adventure away from the crowds. Situated along the west coast, it’s home to a hidden beach and a breathtaking cave. On your way there, you’ll enjoy stunning views of Korawa Beach and Manta Bay in the distance. And to sum all this up, there’s no entrance or parking fee! SEGANING WATERFALL Callin all the adventurers out there – when you visit Nusa Penida, you should definitely not miss out on Seganing Waterfall. That said, I want to start by saying that the way down is an arduous and narrow cliffside path. Once there, you will be stunned by the incredible views of the surrounding landscape and the crystal-clear water. While I loved the place and some people said they saw dolphins, it’s important to note that there is no proper waterfall here or rather, a very tiny one. Be sure to bring good shoes and watch your step, as the bamboo railing is quite sketchy. Never Lose Your Luggage Again! Are you sick and tired of airlines constantly losing your luggage? Be one step ahead with the Tracki GPS Luggage Tracker and get real-time updates so you know where your luggage is if it gets lost. PALUANG CLIFF Next on this list of things to do in Nusa Penida is Paluang Cliff, which is located just 2 minutes away from the famous Kelingking Beach. A breathtaking sight, panoramic views, crystal-clear waters, rock formations, and Insta-worthy are what describe Paluang Cliff best. The track to Paluang Cliff is much more tolerable than that of Senanging Waterfall, and the atmosphere is calm and serene, owing to the lack of crowds. The best time to visit, in my opinion, is at sunset! BATU SIHA BEACH Are you on the hunt for a hidden gem? Then Batu Siha is the place to be! Located on the southwestern part of the island, you’ll have to take a serious hike down, so prepare comfortable, solid shoes before going. You’ll encounter two Hindu temples, and stunning views, and all of it is worth it when you get down to the beach. Rock formations surround Batu Siha Beach, and I recommend spending a couple of hours here chilling before going back up. The BEST reusable water bottle for travel! If so, head over to Saren Cliff Point, located only about 20 minutes from Tembeling Beach and Forest. Saren Cliff Point is a sight to behold, with its simply incredible views and the best vista on the island. If you’re an early bird, make sure to come in the morning for sunrise as you’ll probably be the only one there! The drive there may be intimidating, but it’s not as bad as you might think. You’ll have to go through some dirt tracks, but it’s totally worth it. NYANYAD BEACH SUNFISH BEACH Nestled on the southern-right tip of the island, Nyanyad Beach Sunfish Beach is the most remote beach on Nusa Penida, which allows for one particular activity – snorkeling with Mantas. Sure, you can also go snorkeling with these fish on a guided Nusa Penida tour, but here, you’ll be the only one present. Just like other remote beaches and cliffs, I highly recommend taking plenty of food and water with you. The access to Nyanyad Beach isn’t the easiest, and I recommend planning half a day to explore it. All in all, it’s definitely worth the effort, so make sure to visit it when on Penida Island. Pssst! Check out this EPIC Hiking Backpack! Perfect for shorter day hikes, the Osprey Stratos 24L is a tough pack made from sustainable materials. With great internal organization, this is all you need for your next adventure, no matter the weather! PURA SEGARA WATU OCEAN TEMPLE If you’ve visited all the peaceful temples in Nusa Penida and you’re willing to explore off-the-beaten-path, why not take a quick stop at Pura Segara Watu, the Ocean Temple? It’s a very small temple with only a statue but it’s certainly worth stopping by for a quick photo. Plus, you’ll have the ocean views all to yourself, which is nice, and you can even go for a dip to get refreshed on a hot day. AMOK SUNSET Amok Sunset is a restaurant overlooking the sea with a swimming pool and awesome, cheap cocktails. But that’s not it – they have incredible food that dozens of people come back every day craving. Plus, the staff are amazing, friendly, and helpful. The combination of exquisite views, traditional flavors, and modern twists make every visit to Amok Sunset an extraordinary experience. DAY TRIP TO LEMBONGAN Don’t get me wrong – I love Nusa Penida, however, to combine your visit with a perfect day out, take a trip to Nusa Lembongan. Lembongan is a small island just 10 minutes by boat from Penida and boasts incredible beaches, surf and diving spots, and countless attractions to experience with your own eyes. Apart from that, in Lembongan, you’ll find a ton of opportunities to explore the local culture and enjoy some delicious seafood. There’s really no way to come all the way to Bali and not explore Nusa Lembongan as well! A word of warning – the roads here aren’t as developed as Bali’s, so you’ll want to practice a little before getting off the beaten path. THE PALM TREE ROAD There are quite a few palm tree-lined roads on the island, but there is one road, in particular, that is the most Instagrammable and makes for the ultimate photo. The Instafamous Palm Tree Road is located on the same road that leads to Crystal Bay. It’s an easy location to take photos of because there isn’t much traffic on the road, and it’s the perfect opportunity to get creative with your shots to post on Instagram. First of all, make your way to the west coast of Penida Island for sunset. The best spots are Crystal Bay, Amok Sunset, Kelingking Beach, and Paluang Cliff. The sunsets on Nuda Penida are generally from 6 pm onwards so I recommend getting to one of these places at least 30 minutes before as they get pretty crowded.
